In the Begining

Kim and I had been talking about a trip to Africa for several years. Our first plan was to tour central and east Africa. Due to some news reports and warnings about one or two of the countries we wanted to tour, we decided to postpone that trip for a few years. One night we were watching the movie "Death on the Nile". We started talking about taking a cruise on the Nile on that boat. From there, the rest of the trip was wrapped around that cruise.



Several years ago, I had been to Egypt with a group of Penn State students. I enjoyed the trip and wanted to return. When we planned this trip, I wanted to add in some places that we didn't get to tour on that trip.










We have several cool things that we are going to do on this trip. Besides the pyramids, we are going on a three day camel ride through the Sinai, visiting the spot where Moses got the Ten Commandments, Luxor and Karnak, and Siwa Oasis.


Back in April, Kim and I took a trip to Atlanta. Although Kim wanted to visit every possible Brewpub in Atlanta, I wanted to see the King Tut exhibit that was touring America. It was a great exhibit for us. Besides showing us the artifacts, it gave a little history.




This last month has been busy packing and buying clothing, camera equipment, and supplies. After we are on the trip, we will find something that we forgot.

Our vacation will be 24 days! It is the longest trip we have made together. Each year we tack on a few more days than last year. Although, there are a lot of days, we do not have much free time. I almost wish we had two or three days extra for some free time.
